About Troop 2002

Troop 2002 is a Boy Scout Troop chartered to St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church in Hamilton Square, New Jersey. We would like to invite all boys in the area – ages 11 to 18 – to join our Boy Scout Troop. Even if you’ve never been involved in scouting before – now is the time to give it a try.

Meetings:

• Every Thursday during the school year from 7:30PM – 9PM in the Parish Center.
• Patrol Leaders Council, (PLC) meetings – First Thursday of each month, prior to troop meeting
• Troop Committee meetings – 3rd Thursday of each month, 7:00 PM Parental involvement welcome and encouraged
• Overnighters – average 1/month
• Courts of Honor – bi-annual, Fall and Spring
• Summer Camp

Costs and Uniform Requirements

• The annual dues for Boy Scouting is $50.00,includes a 1 year subscription to Boy’s Life Magazine,insurance, troop activity fee ($38 w/o BL)
• Each boy needs to purchase a uniform shirt (Harry’s Army/Navy store or the council shop), a neckerchief and hand- book. (The Troop will supply the emblems,epilets and numbers).

We do one main fund-raiser each year and ask all to participate in the popcorn sale.

Parents are invited to join the other parents at the meetings, but in general the meetings are “boy-run”. Each year a new Scout is elected to be Senior Patrol Leader and he plans the activities for the group. The activites are designed to encourage rank advancement.

We currently have two patrols – the “Laser-Eyed Penguins” and the “Stealth Bombers”. The older boys mentor the younger boys through the ranks from Tenderfoot to Eagle !
